Thank you for your interest in volunteering. AIDS Walk Portland is a welcoming, inclusive event. We encourage everyone to attend, especially those representing diverse communities of race, color, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, faith, age, national origin, citizenship status and physical or mental disability. It's a day for all of us to show support and increase awareness of the HIV/AIDS community.

AIDS Walk Portland

Saturday, September 9th

Fields Park, NW 10th & Overton

Volunteer T-Shirts will be at the Volunteer Headquarters booth. Please stop there FIRST when you arrive at the park, regardless of whether you already have your volunteer t-shirt.

Please bring a water bottle for your use during the day. There are water stations where you can refill as needed. I recommend writing your name on your bottle and keeping it in your bag if you bring one.

Bring sunscreen and a hat if you need them.

Dress in layers – it is going to be cooler in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. AIDS Walk T-Shirts should be the top layer and clearly visible.

Wear comfortable shoes/sneakers as your role may require a lot of standing/walking.

Remember to have fun. Part of our role is engaging the crowd. Ask the walkers if they have what they need, answer questions as you can and enjoy your time there. If you have questions, please ask your Team Captain or the Volunteer Coordinator (Denny Richard).

We are also still a handful of volunteers short. If you have friends and family that would like to join you, please let me know. We specifically need a few more Route Monitors and help with Tear Down after the event.

I am so excited for this year’s walk and I am very grateful that you will be joining us. If you have any questions, please ask!

See you Saturday, September 9th!

Email Volunteer Coordinator Denny Richard at drichard@cascadeaids.org. Be sure to include your desired position (shift details will be finalized in early July). New volunteers must complete the One Time Volunteer Application using the button above.

  • Dress comfortably and dress for the weather – you’ll be standing on hard pavement.

  • Bring a refillable water container. To be kinder to our planet, bottled water will be limited.
  • Volunteer Shift Reminders will be sent one week prior to the event.
  • Physical Requirements: Nearly all positions require standing. Contact Denny with any individual needs.

Some volunteers want to register and raise money for AIDS Walk in addition to volunteering, which is wonderful! If you have a shift during the Walk, keep in mind that you don't have to actually do the Walk to register as a walker. Or, if you want to walk you could take a volunteer shift before or after, such as Set Up or Tear Down. Either way, click on the "Register to Walk" button at the top of this page and join a team or start your own team with friends or family. Thank you so much for supporting Cascade AIDS Project.

Thank you,

Denny Richard, Volunteer Coordinator | drichard@cascadeaids.org503.278.3814
